You probably know a lot about the court ruling that labeled Google a monopolist in the web tech market. Well, you’re not the only ones, as it has been one of the biggest and hottest stories since it appeared. And that makes sense.

Google is a major player and whatever they are doing impacts the market in general, which means that they have a lot of power, and that is what the court considered problematic. And while Google has presented their own arguments, it seems that they are going to have to make some cuts.

One of the biggest “issues” for them was the fact that the DOJ wanted them to sell Google Chrome, their popular web browser, which is something that Google tried to fight, claiming even that it would pose a risk to national security.

The DOJ has recently presented another plan and while some things changed, the DOJ still insists “to provide an opportunity for a new rival to operate a significant gateway to search the internet, free of Google’s monopoly control.”

According to the new proposal, Google might even be forced to sell Android, although the DOJ has not taken a firm stance on that and will observe the situation in general to see how Google adapts and how big of an influence it will have after selling Chrome.

The best piece of news for Google is that the DOJ has given up on the idea of banning Google from further AI-related acquisitions, so the company will be able to invest in that aspect in the future, as things stand now.
