Hey, we’ve got some fresh scoop on Google’s next mid-range phone, the Pixel 9a, and it’s looking pretty slick. Leaks are popping up everywhere, and I’m excited to break it down for you.

The big reveal is supposedly happening on March 19, with the phone hitting stores a week later on March 26. That’s right around the corner, so let’s dive into what’s got everyone talking.

First off, the design is getting a makeover. Google’s ditching that chunky camera bar we’ve known for years.

Instead, the Pixel 9a’s got this super flat back with just a tiny bump for the camera. It’s a throwback vibe, like something you’d see on phones from a decade ago, and I’m kind of into it.

The frame’s going flat too, taking a page out of the iPhone playbook. Oh, and there’s a new color in town – a gorgeous purple shade they’re calling ‘Iris.’

Leaker Evan Blass, or@evleaks, dropped some marketing pics on his private X account (we can’t show you from his accunt as it is private, but you can check it out there directly), showing it off in all its glory.

Here’s one pic we managed to find open.

The specs sound solid too. We’re looking at a 6.3-inch screen that’s smooth with a 120Hz refresh rate and super bright at 2,700 nits. It’s got HDR10+ support, so your videos should pop.

Powering it is the Tensor G4 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The battery’s a beefy 5,100mAh, which could mean this thing lasts all day and then some. Charging’s still slow at 18W, though, which feels like a bummer for 2025.

Price-wise, it’s a mixed bag. The base model’s sticking to $499, which is nice. But if you want the 256GB version, it’s jumping up by $40 to $599 in the US. Europe, the UK, and Canada are getting hit with similar bumps.

Evan Blass also showed off some features in those leaked pics, like ‘Gemini’ integration, Theft Detection, and the usual Google ecosystem stuff. Plus, it’s got an IP68 rating, so it can handle a splash or two.

What do I think of that purple ‘Iris’ color? Honestly, it’s a stunner. The pics compare it to the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup, and it stands out in any setting.

The flat camera bump is a bold move too – it’s all thanks to the phone being a bit thicker, which also makes room for that bigger battery. So, what do you reckon? Is this purple beauty your next phone, or are you waiting for more leaks to drop?
