With Apple Pay, making payments and purchases has never been easier for Apple device users because all they need to do is to have all their cards stored on their apple wallet, then use Apple Pay for their payments whenever they need to. In terms of gifting, iTunes gift cards are one of the most popular forms of gifts that people can share as a token of appreciation. In recent times, apple users have questioned the ability to use iTunes Gift Cards on Apple Pay, leading us to ask if this is possible.

Unfortunately, you cannot use an iTunes gift card on Apple Pay because presently, there are no options to use the iTunes Gift Card credit to users’ Apple Pay accounts. The iTunes Gift Card can only be redeemed to your Apple ID account and be used to purchase IOS applications, games, and so on.

In this article, I’ll discuss more on the subject to determine if you can use your iTunes gift card on Apple Pay, if not, how do you redeem the iTunes gift card to your Apple ID account and what things can you buy with an iTunes gift card.

Unfortunately, you cannot use an iTunes gift card on Apple Pay because Apple Pay doesn’t have the option to use an iTunes gift card to credit your Apple Cash account.

This means that the money on your iTunes gift card cannot be transferred to your Apple Pay account because the option isn’t available. The only accepted gift card that can be used to credit your Apple Pay Cash account is the Apple Gift Card.

The iTunes Gift Card can only be used to credit your Apple ID account which shows there’s a difference between your Apple Pay account and your Apple ID account. When the iTunes gift card is used to credit your Apple ID account, you can only use the amount on your Apple ID account to make purchases on iTunes and AppStore which means, you cannot use the iTunes gift card balance outside of iTunes and AppStore.

However, if an Apple gift card is credited to your Apple Pay Cash account, you can use the balance for any purchase you want via your Apple Pay just like you’d normally do with the cards saved on your Apple Pay.

Most times, the iTunes gift card is mainly used as a form of gift for appreciation. Once the iTunes gift card is redeemed to your Apple ID account, the card cannot be used by another person again since the balance of the card has been credited to your Apple ID account for purchases on AppStore and iTunes.

The iTunes gift card can only be used to pay for Apple services and cannot be converted into cash or physical money to be used for purchases at a store or credit card payments.

Can You Transfer Your Apple Id Balance To Apple Pay?

Similar to how you cannot credit your iTunes gift card balance to your Apple Pay, you cannot transfer your Apple ID balance to your Apple Pay Cash balance.

This is because your Apple ID balance was credited using an iTunes gift card and the balance cannot be converted to cash and be used on your Apple Pay Cash account. Your Apple ID balance can only be used to make purchases on your AppStore, iTunes, Apple Music, or any other Apple ID-related markets.

Unlike the way you can redeem an Apple gift card to Apple Pay and use it to make purchases in physical or online stores via Apple Pay, you cannot do the same with your Apple ID account balance. If you want to get a gift card that can be redeemed to your Apple Pay account, you’ll need to get the apple gift card instead of the regular iTunes gift card.

Although this may make it seem like the iTunes gift card cannot be used for anything outside your Apple ID marketplace, you can still gift it to your loved ones so they can use redeem it to their Apple ID balance and use it for any purchases they’ll like to make on their AppStore, iTunes, Apple Music, and so on.

The iTunes gift card was the first gift card made by apple so apple device users could use it as a form of reward and appreciation to their loved ones. But when Apple Pay was launched, the iTunes gift card couldn’t be used or redeemed into the Apple Pay account because it wasn’t made to be used for other purchases aside from Apple marketplace-related purchases.

This was what led to the invention of the apple gift cards. This way, users can redeem the Apple gift card balance to their Apple Pay Cash account to be used for purchases in-store, online, and every other place where they’d need to make purchases.

This means that when you purchase an apple gift card, the balance can be credited to your Apple Pay Cash account balance instead of your Apple ID account balance. Hence, if you want to top up your Apple ID balance, you’d need to get an iTunes gift card and if you want to top up your Apple Pay Cash account, you’ll need to get an apple gift card.

On the other hand, both accounts can be credited using your credit or debit cards. So if you’d rather do this, you can use your credit or debit cards.
