Anbernic Unveils New Wireless Controller Featuring Built-in Screen and Heart Rate Monitoring
Anbernic has officially revealed its latest gaming accessory known as the RG G01 which aims to disrupt the current gamepad market. This new wireless controller distinguishes itself from standard competitors by incorporating several advanced features usually reserved for high-end niche devices. The company released a teaser video today that showcases the controller equipped with a built-in display and unexpected health monitoring capabilities. It marks the brand’s second entry into the standalone controller space following the release of the RG P01 last year.
The most striking addition to the RG G01 is a small curved color screen located at the top center of the faceplate. This display serves as a command center where users can tweak device settings on the fly without needing separate computer software. You can customize the RGB lighting effects that surround the joysticks or set up complex macro commands directly through the interface. Uniquely, the controller also integrates a heart rate sensor to monitor your physical reaction to horror games or competitive matches.
Anbernic has equipped the RG G01 with high-quality components to ensure precise control and longevity. It features Hall effect joysticks which the manufacturer calls Purple Kirin that are designed to resist drift over time. The triggers offer dual modes that allow players to switch between linear travel for racing games and instant microswitches for shooters. The controller also houses asymmetric vibration motors to provide immersive tactile feedback during gameplay.
Gamers can connect the device to a wide variety of systems including PC and Nintendo Switch as well as Android and iOS mobile devices. The controller supports three connection methods which are Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4 GHz wireless or a wired USB-C connection. You can easily switch between platforms like ‘Steam’ on Linux or mobile games on your phone without pairing issues. The claimed 1000 Hz polling rate ensures that every button press is registered instantly which is critical for fighting games.
Anbernic has not yet disclosed how much this feature-packed device will cost in US dollars or when it will ship. The earlier RG P01 launched at a very accessible price point, but the screen and sensors will likely increase the manufacturing cost here. Many fans are curious if the health tracking data will sync with any external apps or simply display on the controller itself. We will have to wait for the official launch to learn if this accessory becomes a staple for gamers.
