Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system, as well as one of the most popular platforms online. With more than 150 million active users, Roblox is an Internet giant and because of that, it is understandable why the platform is often in the public focus.

Another important aspect is the user pool, as a lot of Roblox’s users are underage children (minors), which is why the behavior on the platform is generally closely monitored and child safety concerns are always a common thing. In a recent talk, Roblox co-founder and CEO Dave Baszucki commented on these concerns and once again reassured parents that their children are safe on the platform.

“My first message would be, if you’re not comfortable, don’t let your kids be on Roblox,” he said. And while this might sound like a harsh first message, Baszucki continued to elaborate how there are no real safety concerns and how the platform is doing everything to protect its underage users.

“There are parental controls, and our users would urge constant parental supervision,” Mumsnet boss Justine Roberts said in response to the interview. “If you’ve got multiple children you’re looking after and things happen, and you probably can’t 24/7 watch everything they’re doing, even if you’ve got all your parental controls set,” she added.

Baszucki additionally added how the company has installed numerous safety measures and filters: “We do in the company take the attitude that any bad, even one bad incident, is one too many. We watch for bullying, we watch for harassment, we filter all of those kinds of things, and I would say behind the scenes, the analysis goes on all the way to, if necessary, reaching out to law enforcement.”

And while the company is certainly doing a lot to secure the safety of the children, many people and observers will agree that more can be done there and that such platforms need to be a safe space for children to enjoy the content without being victimized.
