A new video from the YouTube channel NerdNest has surfaced, providing what might be the first hands-on demonstration of the Nintendo Switch 2. The video appears to feature a dummy model of the eagerly anticipated console.

NerdNest’s latest release comes amid a flurry of leaks about the Switch’s successor. They were reportedly approached by iVoler, a third-party accessory maker, who provided them with a new case and the model for testing purposes. The YouTuber showcased a white version of the Switch 2, confirming some of the recent design leaks.

A standout feature highlighted in the video is the device’s new Joy-Cons. These are magnetically attached to the screen, a departure from the original Switch’s slide-and-snap attachment. Each Joy-Con includes a new ‘C’ button and a button on the back to lock them in place, features that align with recent leaks from Dbrand.

The video also noted that the Switch 2’s screen is larger than its predecessor’s, measuring around 7.9 to 8 inches diagonally. Despite the increase in screen size, the thickness remains the same as the original Switch, raising questions about potential overheating issues.

Although Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the Switch 2, a release announcement is expected by the end of 2024. The new console will be backward compatible with the original Switch, ensuring that current users can play their existing game library on the new system.
