In a late Friday update, Elon Musk’s AI venture, XAI, unveiled significant enhancements to its Grok 2 chatbot on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The upgraded Grok now boasts a triple speed increase and enhancements in accuracy, following instructions better, and handling multiple languages. This development comes despite XAI’s ongoing legal battle with OpenAI.

For those curious about the Grok chatbot, XAI has introduced a ‘Grok button’ on X. This new feature aims to assist users in exploring topics more deeply, making sense of real-time happenings, and engaging with trending discussions more thoroughly.

But that’s not all from XAI’s Friday flurry of announcements. The company is also revamping its enterprise API, introducing two new Grok models that promise better efficiency and multilingual performance.

With these advancements, XAI has slashed its API pricing significantly, from $5 to $2 per million input tokens and from $15 to $10 per million output tokens.

Looking ahead, XAI plans to integrate its Aurora image generation model into the API. Aurora, known for its unfiltered image capabilities, was recently launched on X within the Grok chatbot experience.

Users of X’s Premium and Premium+ plans can enjoy expanded interaction limits with Grok, while free users are limited to ten questions every two hours.

As X continues to serve as a proving ground for these innovations, the enhancements to Grok and the new pricing strategy for its API could mark a pivotal shift in how AI services are deployed and monetized in social and enterprise contexts.
