It’s been years since SNK and Capcom went head-to-head, but now they’re teaming up again in a way we didn’t expect. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is bringing in two of Street Fighter’s biggest names, Ken and Chun-Li, as part of its first DLC wave. These two legends will join the fight alongside Fatal Fury veterans Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, and Mr. Big.

It’s no secret that Capcom has been killing it lately. Street Fighter IV gave the fighting game scene a fresh start back in 2008, and Street Fighter VI has only taken things higher. SNK, on the other hand, has had a harder time keeping up.

While it still has a loyal fanbase, it hasn’t had the same mainstream success since the golden arcade era. But things are changing, and this could be a huge moment for SNK.

Terry Bogard’s guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate turned out to be a big win, making King of Fighters and Fatal Fury more recognizable to a whole new audience. Now, with a fresh Fatal Fury game on the way and some familiar faces joining the roster, SNK is looking to make a strong comeback.

SNK and Capcom working together isn’t new. Their first crossover was SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash in 1999, and the rivalry gave us some amazing games like Capcom vs. SNK 2. But after SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos in 2003, things went quiet. Seeing Ken and Chun-Li step into SNK territory again brings back hope that these legendary crossovers aren’t dead.

Before the game launches, SNK is giving players a chance to try it out early. An open beta will run from February 20 to 24, featuring eight fighters: Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, Hotaru Futaba, B. Jenet, Preecha, Vox Reaper, and Kain R. Heinlein. It’s a solid lineup and a great way to see how City of the Wolves plays.

For those who can’t wait, there’s a little extra bonus. Pre-ordering the game will unlock Terry’s classic look from Fatal Fury 2, either as a digital bonus or a physical code. After years of waiting, Fatal Fury is finally back, and it looks like SNK is ready to make a statement.
