The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has earned the North American Car of the Year award, marking a record fourth win for the Civic, Honda confirms officially. This achievement makes it the most awarded model in the history of the North American Car of the Year awards, which have been around for over 30 years.

This is also the second time the 11th-generation Civic has won the award, adding to its reputation. Honda has now earned seven total awards with various models, including the Honda Accord and Honda Ridgeline.

The Civic has proven itself a favorite among automotive journalists and customers alike, with the hybrid version quickly becoming a key part of Honda’s future strategy. As Honda’s assistant vice president Jessika Laudermilk put it, the hybrid models will eventually make up 40% of all Civic sales.

The 2025 Civic Hybrid offers two versions: the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. Both variants combine 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque, making them the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever.

Thanks to Honda’s two-motor hybrid system, these models offer quick acceleration and impressive 50 mpg city fuel efficiency. In addition, the hybrid versions feature improved ride comfort, quieter cabins, and specialized tire tuning for a smooth driving experience.

The Civic, which is Honda’s longest-running nameplate, has been America’s favorite compact car for decades. With more than 15 million Civics sold in North America since 1973, the Civic remains a top choice for first-time buyers and multicultural customers.

Honda has been selling hybrid vehicles in America for 25 years, and the new fourth-generation two-motor hybrid system in the 2025 Civic continues the brand’s commitment to high performance and efficiency.

This hybrid powertrain also won WardsAuto’s 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems award for the second consecutive year. Honda’s hybrid engines are built in Ohio, with the Civic sedan produced in Canada and the hatchback in Indiana.

The 2025 Civic Hybrid marks another milestone in Honda’s effort to lead the hybrid car market while maintaining the fun-to-drive spirit and high efficiency that drivers expect.
