Takaya Imamura Shares Two Games He Would Like to See on the Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch this year, and it’s likely we’ll see some familiar faces from Nintendo’s most famous franchises. Right now, the only confirmed game is a new Mario Kart, but we can expect more to follow. There’s even a chance some older titles could get remastered for the new system.
Takaya Imamura, a former Nintendo artist, recently sparked some hope for this by sharing a piece of art to celebrate two of the games he worked on: Star Fox Assault and Steel Diver: Sub Wars. Both games were released on February 14th, one in 2005 and the other in 2014, marking the 20th and 10th anniversaries.
The artwork shows Fox McCloud holding a model submarine, alongside the text, ‘I hope both will be playable on the Switch 2.’ While it’s unlikely we’ll see Star Fox Assault return, there’s a chance a new Star Fox title could make its way to the Switch 2.
The franchise has been quiet since Star Fox Zero on the Wii U, with only a guest appearance in Starlink: Battle for Atlas and some classic games on Nintendo Switch Online.
As for Steel Diver: Sub Wars, the chances of a comeback are slimmer, but not impossible. If Nintendo has been reviving older titles like Another Code: Recollection for the current Switch, then a remaster of Steel Diver: Sub Wars might not be out of the question.
While both games haven’t been re-released on any other platform since their original launches, it’s clear that Star Fox is a series with a stronger possibility of revival, especially with the potential of improved graphics and power on the new console.
