Kenny Meyers, the owner of Sweet Shop, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting, ‘Image Comics publishes some of the absolute best comics in the business with a model that is wonderful to creators.’ He added, ‘We are huge fans of the work they do, and couldn’t be more excited to release their titles for purchase day and date around the globe.’

The Sweet Shop app aims to offer a strong alternative to traditional comic readers with features like vertical scrolling, bidirectional reading, and support for both North American comics and manga. It will also provide options for purchasing comics directly in the app or through DRM-free downloads.

Thanks to the partnership with Image Comics, the app will include iconic titles like Spawn, The Walking Dead, Invincible, and Transformers, plus new digital-only titles such as Exquisite Corpses by James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh, and We’re Taking Everyone Down With Us by Matthew Rosenberg and Stefano Landini.

Lorelei Bunjes, Image Comics’ VP of Digital Strategy, shared the importance of the new channel, saying, ‘We’re always looking for great ways to get our comics into readers’ hands, and Sweet Shop is shaping up to be an exciting new option. We’re thrilled to have so many incredible creator-owned titles available at launch.’

Readers can get a sneak peek at the platform’s features and sign up for updates on Sweet Shop’s pre-launch website. The app is set to launch this summer.
