Superintelligent AI Might Demand Rights, Says Ilya Sutskever
At the annual AI conference NeurIPS, Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, discussed his views on the future of AI after receiving an award for his contributions to the field.
Sutskever shared insights on ‘superintelligent AI’ which he believes will surpass human capabilities in many areas and could be achieved eventually.
This advanced AI will be distinctly different from today’s technology. According to Sutskever, it will be capable of reasoning and operating independently, making it more unpredictable.
Such AI systems might even become self-aware and could potentially seek rights to co-exist peacefully with humans.
After his time with OpenAI, Sutskever started a new venture, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), aimed at ensuring general AI safety. In September, SSI successfully raised $1 billion to support its efforts.
