Sony’s New Tech Might Allow You to Smell – Zombies

At CES 2025, Sony is showing off an impressive new entertainment experience that could change how we game, Game Spot reports. They’ve created a proof-of-concept that blends multiple technologies to build what feels like a real-life holodeck from Star Trek.

This Future Immersive Entertainment Concept uses Crystal LED panels, audio, haptics, scent, and atmospherics to make games like The Last of Us feel incredibly lifelike. Imagine playing a game where you not only see and hear the action, but also smell and feel it.

It’s like a 4D version of Duck Hunt but much darker, with mutated creatures instead of ducks, and yes, it includes the smell of decaying monsters. Visually, the experience is stunning, pulling you into a world that feels true to the game’s bleak setting:

This is not the first time Sony has teased futuristic gaming gear, as they recently revealed a new PlayStation controller, hinting at big changes in the hardware world, as well as a completely new era in the world of gaming.
