Škoda Auto has started the production of its all-new electric vehicle, the Elroq, at its flagship Mladá Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic.

This compact SUV, which is now being assembled alongside the Škoda Enyaq and the Octavia, highlights the company’s adaptability to market trends thanks to its flexible production line.

Notably, the Elroq is designed to be one of the most budget-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) in its class across European markets, which is a significant step for the automaker.

The Elroq, which shares the MEB platform with its sibling, the Enyaq—one of Europe’s top-selling EVs last year—has had a strong start with over 20,000 orders placed by the end of 2024.

The introduction of the Elroq marks a strategic expansion into the popular compact SUV category and showcases Škoda’s fresh Modern Solid design language, first unveiled in October 2024.

Priced at about €33,000 before any state subsidies in certain European markets, the Elroq competes closely with internal combustion engine models in terms of cost, making it an attractive option for many.

It offers three battery sizes and various power configurations, with the top model, the Elroq 85, boasting a range of up to 581 km on a single charge according to the WLTP standard.

Furthermore, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 25 to 28 minutes, depending on the battery setup.

Andreas Dick, a board member for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, ‘The launch of our new Elroq compact SUV at our main plant is a great accomplishment for the entire team.’

He emphasized the significant production and cost efficiencies gained by manufacturing the Elroq in Mladá Boleslav, benefiting customers directly.

In line with increasing demand and to optimize production capabilities, some of the Octavia’s production was shifted to the Kvasiny plant last year.

This strategic move has allowed the Mladá Boleslav facility to ramp up to a daily production capacity of up to 600 Elroq units, ensuring they keep pace with consumer interest.

The Mladá Boleslav site also plays a vital role in the production of battery systems for these MEB platform vehicles, celebrating the production of its one millionth battery system in December 2024.

With its aggressive pricing and high-end features, the Elroq is set to become a key player in the EV market, offering a sustainable and cost-effective vehicle option for European drivers.
