As CES 2025 unfolds, Segway is not just sticking to its well-known personal transporters but has ventured into a new territory with the launch of two advanced electric bikes, both designed for the premium market.

These new models, the Segway Xyber and the Segway Xafari, are already available for preorder and are expected to hit the market in February.

The Segway Xyber, priced at $2,999.99, might be mistaken for a dirt bike due to its moto-style aesthetics and robust suspension system with 110mm of travel in the front and 100mm at the rear. However, Segway describes it as a light-electric-vehicle, ideal for urban settings.

This bike features a 2,880Wh dual-battery setup providing a range of up to 112 miles and offers different modes of pedal assistance along with three throttle-only options, including a race mode that can boost speed from zero to 20mph in just 2.7 seconds.

It’s important to note that due to its power, the Xyber is categorized as an “unclassified e-bike” and is not approved for public roads or bike paths. A Class 2 road-legal version is expected to be introduced later in the year.

On the other hand, the $2,399.99 Segway Xafari boasts a more traditional bike frame and is equipped with a 936Wh battery that delivers an 88-mile range.

This model is designed to handle all terrains, thanks to its 26-inch tires, and features similar intelligent technologies as the Xyber, including an adaptive pedal assist and a comprehensive security system named Airlock.

This system locks the bike automatically when the rider walks away and unlocks upon their return, coupled with Apple Find My technology to easily locate the bike if misplaced.

Both bikes incorporate Segway’s Intelligent Ride System that offers enhancements like real-time health and fitness data syncing with Apple and Android apps, automatic adjustments in the lighting system, and GPS connectivity for better navigation and tracking.

These innovative features and the premium performance promised by Segway could potentially redefine the benchmarks for what qualifies as a top-tier e-bike.

Stay tuned for more updates as we explore how these e-bikes could change the way we navigate our urban environments.
