Rumor Claims Xbox Is Developing a New Controller Similar to PlayStation’s DualSense

Rumors have surfaced about a new Xbox controller that could introduce some exciting features. According to leaker eXtas1s, this upcoming controller is being worked on and might bring some long-awaited changes. These details were reportedly found in Cloud Gaming files, suggesting the controller will be different from the current design in several ways.

One of the most notable upgrades is the haptic feedback, which will be similar to what we’ve seen with the PS5’s DualSense controller.

This is a big deal since it would allow for more immersive gameplay by using vibrations that react to what’s happening in the game. Xbox fans have wanted something like this for years, and it seems Microsoft is finally listening.

Another major change is the move to a built-in rechargeable battery. Traditionally, Xbox controllers use AA batteries, but this new design might ditch them in favor of a rechargeable battery, which would be a nice step forward.

This is a shift from the current setup, where users can buy a separate rechargeable battery pack, but still have the option to use regular batteries.

In addition, it’s rumored that the new controller will allow users to wake it up with a simple gesture, adding an extra level of convenience.

While this is still just a leak, the idea of adding haptic feedback isn’t a huge surprise. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has talked about the technology in the past, mentioning that they’ve been keeping an eye on the DualSense’s features.

Leaked documents from the FTC v Microsoft case in 2023 also hinted at a controller with this technology, making it seem like a logical next step.

If true, these changes could help push developers to fully embrace haptic feedback, benefiting players across different platforms. While we don’t know when an official announcement will be made, it’s clear that Xbox is preparing something exciting for the future.
