PlayStation Is Reportedly Looking to Remaster Beloved PS3 Series, 'Resistance'

Sony has been making some big moves lately. A while back, we heard about a leak suggesting that the company is bringing back some of its classic franchises. Now, a new trademark renewal has sparked fresh speculation. Could this be connected to that leak? It’s possible, but nothing is confirmed yet.

At the same time, Sony has reportedly canceled multiple live service games. One of them was a planned God of War live service project by Bluepoint Games. With that project scrapped, Sony is now looking at what Bluepoint will work on next.

Since Bluepoint is known for its remasters and remakes, people are hoping for a remaster of Resistance. If this happens, it would be a huge moment for longtime PlayStation fans. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves—this is just speculation for now.

The Resistance series began with Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006, developed by Insomniac Games. It was a major release for the PS3 and earned strong reviews. The game was even nominated for the PC World Gamers Award and the VGX Award for Critic Choice.

After that, the series continued with multiple games, but none have been released since Resistance: Burning Skies in 2011. Since then, the franchise has been left behind.

With Microsoft holding major shooter franchises like Call of Duty, Sony could use something like Resistance to strengthen its lineup. Bringing back the trilogy with a remaster would be a smart move.

It wouldn’t replace Call of Duty, but it could help fill the gap for PlayStation players who want a strong FPS experience. If Sony does go through with it, it would be a major surprise.
