Things might be changing in a big way for Pokémon GO players, as reports suggest that Niantic is planning to sell off its entire gaming division. While nothing is official yet, sources close to the situation say a deal could be just around the corner.

According to the latest rumor, Niantic is in talks with Scopely Inc., a company backed by Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group. The reported price? A staggering $3.5 billion. If true, this would mean a huge shift in the mobile gaming world.

For those unfamiliar, Scopely is owned by Savvy Games Group, which operates under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. This is the same fund that already holds a 6.3% stake in Nintendo.

What makes this even more interesting is that Savvy’s CEO, Brian Ward, recently mentioned that they were looking for a major mobile title to add to their collection. This potential deal could be exactly what they were after.

So far, Niantic hasn’t confirmed anything, but insiders claim an official announcement could happen in the next few weeks. If this sale goes through, it raises plenty of questions about what it means for Pokémon GO and Niantic’s other projects.

Could we see major changes to the game, or will things continue as usual? That part remains a mystery—for now.
