New iOS 19 Rumors Announce a Camera App Redesign, Changes to Siri and a Potential Release Date
iOS 19 is still months away from release, but rumors about its features are already surfacing. While Apple has not confirmed anything, early leaks are giving us some ideas about what to expect, MacRumors reveals.
One major change could be a redesigned Camera app. A leak from Front Page Tech shows that the new app will feature translucent menus for controls, similar to the design of visionOS used by the Vision Pro headset.
This redesign could make more of the camera’s viewfinder visible. New options for video resolution and frame rates will pop up when needed, and additional features, such as a timer for photos, are also expected.
Another big change could be Siri’s new abilities. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Siri will be powered by more advanced language models, making it more conversational and capable of handling complex requests.
This upgrade might not be fully available until iOS 19.4 in the spring of 2026, but we could get a preview during the iOS 19 unveiling next year. For now, iOS 18.2 added ChatGPT integration to Siri, and future updates could bring even more AI-powered enhancements.
It is also said that some features of iOS 19 could be rolled out in stages, with new updates arriving in versions 19.1 through 19.4.
As for compatibility, iOS 19 will likely work on any iPhone that can run iOS 18. This includes models like the iPhone 16, iPhone 15, iPhone 14, and iPhone 13, as well as older models like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. The iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE (2nd generation) will also be supported.
This means Apple won’t be dropping support for older models, which is a change from iOS 17, which did drop support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.
The first iOS 19 beta will likely be released during WWDC 2025 in June, with the official update rolling out in September.
