Meta Adds AI Character Chatbots to WhatsApp

Meta is bringing a new feature to WhatsApp that could change the way we interact with the app, Android Authority reports.

If you’re using the latest WhatsApp beta on Android, you might soon be able to create your own custom AI characters directly in the app.

The feature will let you design a chatbot with your own choices for its personality and qualities.

It looks like the app will even suggest traits for your AI character, and if you don’t like those suggestions, you can refresh to get new ones. This AI creation tool will be similar to what Meta already offers on Instagram.

Right now, WhatsApp already lets some users chat with AI characters from third parties, but this upcoming feature will make it easier for anyone to create their own bots.

Along with this, there may be a new tab in the app dedicated just to AI chats, replacing the Communities tab for Android users. If you still use Communities, you’ll find it under the main Chats tab.

These changes are still in development, so we don’t know exactly when they’ll be available to everyone.
