Mercedes Confirms “Baby” Mercedes g-Class, but “EQ” EV Models Are Reaching the End of the Road

Mercedes has confirmed that they’re working on a smaller version of their iconic G-Class. This ‘baby’ G-Class will follow the electric G-Class that was recently revealed, adding a new model to their lineup.
The company hasn’t yet shared details on just how compact this new G-Class will be, but it seems likely that it will be a smaller, modified version of the platform used for the larger G-Class. We can also expect it to be fully electric.
In a shift of strategy, Mercedes is ending the ‘EQ’ branding for their electric models. Instead of having separate electric versions like the EQS alongside the regular S-Class, they’ll be integrating the electric tech into their core models.
Going forward, models like the S-Class, E-Class, and C-Class will carry an ‘EQ Technology’ badge to mark them as EVs. This approach mirrors BMW’s successful formula and should help simplify things for buyers.
These moves show how Mercedes is rethinking its approach to the future of electric vehicles.
