LG’s Gram Laptops Upgraded with New Intel Chips and Advanced Offline AI Capabilities
LG is set to revamp its Gram and Gram Pro laptop series with exciting new features and hardware updates.
The 16-inch Gram Pro is a standout in this lineup, being the inaugural Copilot Plus PC for LG, and is powered by the Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra V-Series processors.
This makes it unique in the lineup, which also includes models like the 17-inch Gram Pro and the versatile 16-inch 2-in-1, both of which operate on Intel’s Arrow Lake Core Ultra H-Series processors.
These latest models from LG are designed to enhance user experience with impressive specs including displays of 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and storage options going up to 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSDs.
The graphics are not left behind, with the 16-inch versions sporting Intel Arc GPUs and the 17-inch model featuring an Nvidia GeForce RTX4050 graphics card.
One of the most intriguing additions is the Gram Chat On-Device, which taps into a smaller language model from LG AI Research’s EXAONE project to power offline access to recently interacted with media such as web pages and videos.
This positions LG’s new tools in a competitive space alongside similar offerings from giants like Microsoft and Apple.
Moreover, LG has integrated OpenAI’s GPT-4o in their Gram Chat Cloud service, which delivers answers from expansive web-based datasets.
This service is designed to work seamlessly with users’ calendars and emails, although it requires internet access and is free only for the first year.
The connectivity features are also getting a boost with LG’s Gram Link 2.0, which facilitates smoother sharing across devices, including smartphones, and allows users to manage phone calls directly from their laptops.
Looking forward, LG plans to expand its reach by introducing the Gram Book to the American market.
This entry-level model will be equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, a 15.6-inch 60Hz full HD display, and offers options for up to 1TB of SSD storage and 16GB of DDR4 memory.
As LG unveils these innovations, it’s clear the company is aiming to set a new standard for both performance and practicality in the laptop market.
We’ll have to watch how these advancements play out in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
