Latest Rumor Claims New ‘God of War’ Game Will Feature a Younger Kratos and Go Back to Greece
There’s been a lot of talk about where the God of War series is heading next, with many assuming Kratos would take on the gods of Egypt. But according to a new rumor, that might not be the case.
Instead, the next game could take us back to ancient Greece with a much younger Kratos, resembling the brutal warrior from the early games rather than the older, more reflective version from the recent Norse saga.
The rumor comes from Tom Henderson, a well-known industry insider. He claims the story will focus on Kratos’ relationship with his father, Zeus, though he isn’t entirely sure where it fits in the timeline.
It could be a prequel to the original trilogy or even an extension of the Norse reboot, possibly tying into the rumored remasters of the first three games for the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
Henderson made it clear that he’s not fully confident in this information, which is why he shared it on a podcast rather than through an official report. He has a strong track record when it comes to leaks, but this time, he’s urging people to take it with a grain of salt.
One thing he does stand by is that Egypt is off the table. A previous report suggested Kratos would head there next, but Henderson insists that isn’t happening. Whether that means Sony scrapped the idea or it was never real to begin with remains unknown.
As expected, Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation have stayed silent on the matter. They rarely comment on rumors, so don’t expect any official confirmation anytime soon. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see what’s really in store for Kratos’ next adventure.
