Honda Set to Launch Two New EVs Inspired by Futuristic Prototypes (Images)
Honda revealed at the recent consumer tech show in Las Vegas that it will be expanding its electric vehicle lineup with two new entries from their 0 Series, set to debut in 2026.
The company, which made this announcement building on the momentum of last year’s CES showcase, will start production of these vehicles at their EV Hub in Marysville, Ohio.
Included in the upcoming lineup are a midsize electric SUV and a flagship sports sedan prototype known as the Saloon.
Although still in the prototype stage, Honda plans to turn these concepts into production models by next year.
Both vehicles will be equipped with Level 3 automated driving technology, allowing for ‘eyes-off’ capabilities where the driver can engage in activities such as watching movies or participating in Zoom calls.
ASIMO OS, named after Honda’s iconic humanoid robot, is set to be the backbone of these new models, enhancing everything from the driving experience to infotainment personalization.
This operating system represents a leap towards a future where vehicles are more integrated with advanced robotics and software-defined architecture.
The partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is another key component of Honda’s strategy. AWS will support the development of the vehicles’ software capabilities and assist with the operational aspects of battery management.
This includes using a generative AI system to optimize public charging of the EVs based on various real-time data.
The Saloon’s unique design, with its low stance and wedge shape, was one of the highlights from last year’s CES, and it is expected to maintain these distinctive elements in its production version.
Following the release of the SUV in early 2026, the Saloon will make its debut later in the same year.
Honda’s initiative to evolve into more consumer-friendly electric models continues with these developments, as seen with the earlier success of the Prologue electric SUV.
This strategy indicates Honda’s commitment to filling the evolving market demands within its electric vehicle lineup.
