Avalanche Software is working on a sequel to their hit game, Hogwarts Legacy, along with an expanded version of the original. This comes from reports stating that new content is in development.

Warner Bros. has already hinted that a follow-up to Hogwarts Legacy is a major focus for the company. In a report on the studio’s future projects, it’s mentioned that additional content is being developed for the first game alongside work on a full sequel. Parts of another studio, known for Suicide Squad, have even been brought in to help.

Despite the game’s massive success, there are concerns about whether the sequel can live up to expectations. The first Hogwarts Legacy sold over 34 million copies, making it the top-selling game of 2023. However, without a multiplayer mode or live-service elements, some wonder if the next game will maintain the same level of hype.

Since launch, Hogwarts Legacy has received updates like a Photo Mode and mod support, but no major expansions. That could change soon. Reports suggest a large DLC is coming later this year, possibly adding up to 15 hours of gameplay, including new quests, outfits, and activities. Pricing for the expansion is rumored to be between $20 and $30.

Warner Bros. is also working on a Harry Potter TV series set to release in 2026, and it seems the new Hogwarts Legacy content will tie into the show’s world-building. This suggests a larger plan to connect different parts of the franchise.

With an ambitious sequel, an expansion, and a TV adaptation all in the works, Warner Bros. is betting big on Hogwarts Legacy. But with expectations sky-high, delivering something fresh while staying true to the original might be the biggest challenge yet.
