Gemini Is Seriously Expanding Its Presence This Year
For over a year, Google’s main focus has been Gemini. The company frequently mentions it’s now in its ‘Gemini era.’ This year, they’re stepping up their efforts even more. At CES, TCL showcased Gemini integration with Google TV.
There’s also evidence that Google is preparing its AI assistant to work with smart speakers and smartwatches, as per Android Police.
Expect to see Gemini in Android XR headsets soon, and Mercedes-Benz is rolling out cars with Gemini-powered Automotive AI this year. Google’s AI assistant is set to play a bigger role across many devices in 2025.
We’re hearing more about how Gemini will replace Google Assistant in various gadgets like Nest speakers and Wear OS watches. Since Gemini can handle most tasks that Google Assistant can—like setting alarms and checking the weather—having different experiences on different devices feels outdated.
Some users in the UK noticed their Nest speakers using a new, more natural voice last December, hinting at Gemini‘s arrival.
The Google app beta recently confirmed Gemini as a ‘wearable’ assistant, allowing for easier conversations on your watch. Meanwhile, TCL TVs will soon have a version of Google Assistant integrated with Gemini, offering features like finding kid-friendly movies when you ask for something similar to ‘Jurassic World.’
Android Auto has been prepping for Gemini Live integration for months, and Mercedes-Benz’s new cars are already using Google’s Automotive AI based on Gemini.
We can also expect Gemini to be a key part of Google’s mixed-reality platform, Android XR, which will debut with a Samsung headset later this year. These headsets will let you ask Gemini about the world around you, much like the impressive demo from Project Astra last year.
Gemini isn’t just about new gadgets; it’s expanding across software, too. By November, it was available on many phones, including iPhones. Samsung plans to integrate Gemini more deeply into its devices soon.
At the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked, we’re expecting Gemini to gain more features in Samsung apps, helping users take notes or set events through voice commands. There are even rumors of a new wake word, ‘Hey Gemini,’ for Samsung’s latest devices.
Throughout 2024, Google added Gemini features to apps like Gmail, Google Drive, and Docs. In 2025, they’re focusing on bringing Gemini to new hardware. Whether you like it or not, Gemini is going to be everywhere this year.
