Dying Light Series Reaches Huge Milestone with Over 45 Million Players
Techland, the team behind the Dying Light series, recently shared some exciting news. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise, they revealed that the series has reached over 45 million players across all its games and platforms.
To mark this achievement, the original Dying Light and its sequel, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, are getting free updates. For the first game, players will enjoy new rewards, visual upgrades, a remastered soundtrack, and the return of popular events. Dying Light 2’s updates include changes to its prologue and the permanent addition of the co-op roguelike mode, Tower Raid.
Techland is also offering big discounts on both games. Dying Light 2, for example, now has its biggest price cut yet, with a 67% discount.
Looking ahead, the series isn’t slowing down. A new spinoff, Dying Light: The Beast, is set to release this summer for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The journey of Dying Light started strong. The first game attracted 1.2 million players in its debut week and grew to 4.5 million players by May 2015. By August that year, it had sold five million copies and reached 20 million sales by 2022.
The sequel, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, has also been a major hit. While specific sales numbers for the sequel aren’t detailed here, the series’ combined player count exceeding 45 million shows its massive success.
Techland’s ongoing updates and new content demonstrate their commitment to the Dying Light community. The upcoming release of Dying Light: The Beast is proof they’re continuing to expand and innovate within the franchise.
With these milestones and future plans, the Dying Light series has firmly established itself as a major force in gaming. Its blend of action-packed gameplay and constant developer support keeps players engaged and excited for what’s next.
