Devil May Cry Remake Hinted by Vergil’s Voice Actor?
During a panel at Power Morphicon 2024, held in August, Daniel Southworth, known for voicing Vergil in the Devil May Cry series, shared some intriguing news. He mentioned, ‘In fact, I just finished a video game three or four weeks ago. I don’t want to say any titles or anything ’cause I’m known for spilling the beans… but they asked me to do my voice the way it was back in 2004 or whatever.’ He added, ‘[They asked] ‘Can you do the younger Vergil version?’ So that was challenging.’
These comments have led many to believe that a Devil May Cry remake could be in development, with Southworth reprising his role as a younger Vergil. However, it’s important to note that Southworth has lent his voice to various other games. It’s possible he was referring to a different project where he was asked to portray a younger-sounding character similar to Vergil.
Given Capcom’s recent trend of remaking classic titles, like the Resident Evil series, the idea of a Devil May Cry remake isn’t far-fetched. The success of Devil May Cry 5 also supports the possibility of revisiting earlier entries in the series.
Currently, Capcom’s lineup includes Monster Hunter Wilds, set to release soon, and a new Onimusha game planned for 2026. With these projects on the horizon, it’s uncertain when or if a Devil May Cry remake might be announced.
In the meantime, we’ll have to wait and see if more information emerges. If a remake is in the works, it could bring a fresh experience to both longtime fans and newcomers to the series.
