Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has commented on the price of the upcoming Switch 2, though the company hasn’t officially revealed the console yet. He also addressed the current status of the original Switch and Nintendo’s approach to meeting demand for the new system.
During a recent Q&A session, Furukawa was asked about inflation and currency changes since the Switch launched in 2017. He admitted that things have shifted and said Nintendo is thinking carefully about pricing.
He stressed that affordability is a key factor, and the company wants to meet expectations while considering multiple factors.
Furukawa didn’t share an exact price for the Switch 2 but confirmed that Nintendo is weighing all possibilities. On the other hand, the original Switch’s price will not change. Nintendo has no plans for a price cut or increase at this time.
He also mentioned that Nintendo is preparing to meet demand for the Switch 2 and will take action against scalpers, which we have already reported on. The company has been criticized for past shortages, and it looks like they’re trying to avoid similar issues when the new system launches.
