David S. Goyer’s New Scifi Franchise, ‘Emergence,’ Will Be Made Using the AI and Blockchain-Driven Platform Incention
David S. Goyer, known for hits like Foundation and The Dark Knight trilogy, is developing a new sci-fi franchise called Emergence with Incention, a company combining AI and blockchain to revolutionize Hollywood. The project revolves around a white hole in a distant galaxy and will branch out across podcasts, comics, and animations.
Incention uses a blockchain-based AI platform called Story, which includes a creative AI tool named Atlas. Atlas is described as a ‘co-pilot’ for creators, helping with tasks like generating ideas, building stories, and even crafting videos.
It also manages social media, engages with communities, and adapts content based on audience feedback.
Goyer emphasized that this approach doesn’t replace jobs but creates opportunities for newcomers who might not have access to traditional Hollywood systems. He acknowledged concerns about AI but believes it can be a valuable tool when used ethically and responsibly. ‘We can’t ignore it—it’s about learning how to use it properly,’ Goyer explained.
Funded by a16z crypto, Incention plans to give creators and communities more influence over intellectual property. The company envisions a space where people can expand beloved stories while earning recognition and income.
With features like smart contracts for licensing and revenue sharing, contributors can shape franchises while rights holders maintain control.
The Emergence universe is described as an open canvas where creators and audiences collaborate to add new characters, worlds, and artifacts.
Incention CEO Chase Rosenblatt said, ‘This is about giving creators and fans the tools to shape the future of storytelling.’
Jason Zhao from Story partner PIP Labs highlighted how traditional systems struggle with the explosion of digital content. By blending AI with human creativity, he believes projects like ‘Emergence’ will unlock new ways to monetize stories and build strong communities.
Goyer’s involvement signals a bold step into a future where Hollywood, creators, and audiences work together in ways never seen before.
