Chad Dezern of Insomniac Games Provides Us With an Update on 'Marvel's Wolverine'

Insomniac Games is keeping a tight lid on details about its upcoming game, Marvel’s Wolverine, which was first announced back in 2021. After the mixed reception of Spider-Man 2, many hoped for updates on Wolverine, especially since there were rumors of a potential release in 2024 or 2025.

However, recent events have left fans in the dark. In December 2023, a significant data breach exposed various plans from Insomniac, including details about Spider-Man 2 DLC and a Venom spin-off, as well as early footage and story elements for Wolverine.

Following this incident, Insomniac decided to scrap the previously planned Spider-Man content. Despite the leaks, co-studio head Chad Dezern stated that while they are excited about Wolverine, they must remain ‘stoic’ until they are ready to reveal more, Variety reports:

We’ve announced ‘Wolverine,’ and we’d love to talk more about ‘Wolverine,’ but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road. As much as we’re as much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s, that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.”

With Ted Price stepping down as co-founder and CEO, the studio has new leadership with Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang taking charge. This change comes at a crucial time as they navigate the aftermath of the breach and prepare for future projects.

Dezern expressed that they would love to share more about Wolverine but emphasized the need for patience.

While we await more information, it seems that Wolverine is still very much in development but might not be progressing as quickly as many would like. The anticipation remains high for what Insomniac will bring to this beloved character.

In addition to Wolverine, there are also reports of other Marvel games in the works, including a Captain America and Black Panther team-up and a solo Iron Man game. As we look forward to 2025, it’s clear that Insomniac has exciting plans ahead. But for now, we’ll have to wait for more updates on Wolverine and see how everything unfolds.
