Are you thinking about setting up an Amazon account and renting movies? Or you already have the account, but you’re still unsure about how exactly Amazon works for rentals?
You can watch a rented Amazon movie as many times as you like. Your rented movie on Amazon is available for 30 days, but you will have access for 48 hours once you start watching it.
In the rest of the article, I will walk you through some other questions about Amazon movies, like how many devices you can watch the movies, the expiration date, etc.
How Many Times Can You Watch an Amazon Rental?
You can watch your Amazon rental as many times as you like for a set period of time (48 hours). You are free to pause, resume and review it.
A huge advantage of Amazon rentals is that you can easily share it with others after you finished the movie.
Your family members can watch the rental on their device without too much hustle. Both you and the people you share the movie with can watch it as many times you want in that period.
How Long Does a Rented Movie Last on Amazon Prime?
Your rented movie on Amazon is available for 30 days, but you will have access for 48 hours once you start watching it.
It can even be 72 hours for some rentals, which will be listed on the product page.
You don’t have to be an Amazon Prime member to use this feature.
When You Buy a Movie on Amazon Prime, How Long Does it Last?
When you buy a movie on Amazon Prime, it doesn’t have an expiration date, and you will always have it on your account.
Just browse the catalog on the Amazon website or in the Prime Video app and search for the movie you want to purchase.
Then you will see available purchase options on the title’s product page. Just look at whether the Buy option is applicable.
It is a quite easy and quick process that allows you to immediately download the movie on your mobile device or tablet and watch it anytime.
Remember that there are also some download restrictions – you can’t download the movie on your PC or laptop. Also, not all content on Amazon Prime is available to download.
Amazon also has an option to link another account to yours and extend your Prime benefits to another user. This allows them to share access to all your purchased media – videos, music, Kindle books, and Audible audiobooks.
How Many Devices Can Watch a Rented Amazon Movie?
On Amazon Prime Video, you can stream movies on up to three devices.
Just bear in mind that Amazon doesn’t let you stream the same movie on more than one device with the three-video-stream limit simultaneously.
After you watch it, you are free to share it as long as it is being watched on only one device at a time.
As long as you watch different titles, you don’t need to create separate profiles for every account user.
Suppose you choose to create different profiles within your account. In that case, Amazon Prime allows you to create and manage six user profiles – one that is the default primary profile and five additional profiles, be adult or kids.
To sum up, you are enabled to use up to 3 devices for streaming Amazon – just as long that those devices are not watching the same movie at the same time.
Can You Stream Amazon Movies While Offline?
Amazon movies can be downloaded and played at any time without internet access!
Offline streaming is immensely useful if you’re struggling with your home Wi-Fi or travel frequently with no Wi-Fi access.
For me, it is the flights – a few movies can make those long flights infinitely more bearable.
If you want to download Amazon movies, simply open the movie that interests you and tap the download option in the video details section.
Downloaded movies and TV shows will have a checkmark icon in the video details section, and you’ll be able to find them in the Downloads section located in the Amazon menu.
The Bottom Line
In addition to the library of free videos available with Amazon Prime, Amazon allows you to rent and purchase individual movies and TV show episodes.
However, you can’t download purchased videos to a computer for offline viewing – you can only download them to the Amazon Video app on iOS, Android, or the Kindle Fire.
