ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra will launch globally on February 6th
ASUS has officially announced the launch of its latest flagship, the Zenfone 12 Ultra, scheduled for February 6, 2025. The reveal, made on X (formerly Twitter), comes earlier than last year’s Zenfone 11 Ultra, which debuted in March. This marks a shift in ASUS’ release schedule as the company continues to prioritize its flagship lineup.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra aims to redefine mobile photography and video capabilities. A teaser image shared by ASUS highlights advanced 4K video recording with focus tracking, a feature that ensures sharpness even during movement. The company has also emphasized the integration of AI features, suggesting a significant leap in both performance and usability.
In keeping with recent trends, ASUS appears to be abandoning the compact phone design that once defined its Zenfone lineup. Following the larger Zenfone 11 Ultra, the Zenfone 12 Ultra is expected to retain a similar design while offering cutting-edge hardware. Reports suggest that, like its predecessor, the Zenfone 12 Ultra may share specifications with the ROG Phone 9, albeit in a more streamlined design.
Rumored specs include a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display, and a robust 5,800mAh battery with 65W fast charging. Storage options are expected to range up to 512GB or possibly 1TB, paired with up to 16GB of RAM.
The phone will likely include IP68 dust and water resistance for durability. Its camera setup is rumored to feature a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens, promising a versatile photography experience.
While the Zenfone 12 Ultra is anticipated to launch with Android 15, ASUS’ history of limited software support—just two years of updates for previous models—has been a point of criticism. Fans are hoping the company will improve its approach this time around to match industry standards.
Pricing for the Zenfone 12 Ultra is expected to be in line with the ROG Phone 9, which starts at $1,000. However, like its predecessor, the Zenfone 12 Ultra might face limited compatibility with U.S. networks, supporting only T-Mobile, AT&T, and select MVNOs, with no Verizon support.
As we count down to the February launch, more details are likely to emerge.
