Apple plans to refresh the iPhone SE next year, and there’s a buzz building around its pricing and features.

According to a recent leak from Korea, the 2025 iPhone SE will start at $499, a slight increase from its predecessor but still $300 cheaper than the regular iPhone 16. This price point keeps it attractive for those seeking a more budget-friendly option.

The 2025 model is expected to sport significant upgrades, including Apple’s own modem, marking a first in the iPhone lineup.

This change signifies Apple’s shift towards integrating more of its custom tech, which could enhance performance while keeping costs in check.

Leaked details suggest that the iPhone SE 4 will borrow heavily from the iPhone 16, including its A18 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a 48 MP main camera.

It also boasts a 6.06-inch OLED display and a revamped design similar to the iPhone 14, complete with Face ID technology.

Despite lacking an ultrawide camera, the trade-offs might not detract much from its appeal given the lower price point.

Another rumor, sourced from Japanese carrier information by the leaker yeux1122 and shared via @Jukanlosreve, supports the sub-$500 price tag in the U.S. It’s noted that the exact price might vary slightly due to conversions.

The upcoming model is also rumored to include Apple’s in-house Wi-Fi and 5G chips, which could further reduce production costs and are possibly being tested first in the more affordable SE range.

Apple’s strategy to introduce these significant improvements in the iPhone SE line-up, including support for Apple Intelligence, not available even on the current iPhone 14 Pro models, positions the SE as an incredible value proposition.

Assuming all these features make it to the final product, the iPhone SE 4 could set new standards for what budget-friendly smartphones can offer.
