Apple is preparing to launch a third-generation Apple Watch SE later this year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The updated model is expected to feature a new design, though specific details about the changes remain under wraps.

In the past, Gurman suggested that the Apple Watch SE 3 might introduce a plastic body, similar to the colorful design of the iPhone 5C. While this detail wasn’t reiterated in his latest newsletter, a shift to a plastic casing could make the SE more appealing to parents looking for an affordable smartwatch for their children.

The current Apple Watch SE, priced at $249 in the U.S., was last updated in September 2022 and is based on the Apple Watch Series 4 design.

This year’s update could see the SE adopting a design closer to the 2021 Apple Watch Series 7 or possibly introducing an entirely new look. Alongside the design changes, the new SE is also expected to feature a faster chip, enhancing performance compared to its predecessor.

Apple’s plans for its smartwatch lineup don’t stop with the SE. The Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 models are also set to debut later this year. While these higher-end models are expected to maintain a similar design to their current versions, they could bring new features.

Notably, the Ultra 3 is rumored to include satellite connectivity and 5G RedCap technology, offering improved connectivity. Both the Series 11 and Ultra 3 are also anticipated to introduce blood pressure detection, providing users with alerts for potential hypertension risks, though not exact readings.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on advanced health features, including an AI-powered coaching service and a revamped health app. These developments could coincide with new AirPods that include heart rate monitoring.

With these updates, Apple appears to be setting the stage for an exciting year in wearable technology.
