YouTube Music is making a small but interesting change to its playlist naming system. The My Mix playlists, which are auto-generated based on what you listen to, will soon get unique names instead of just being numbered (My Mix 1, 2, 3, and so on).

Some of the names spotted in this test include things like Offbeat Pop Shenanigans, Indie Pop Gems, and Classic Hits Reimagined. The names will likely depend on your listening habits, like the genre or artists you enjoy. It seems like YouTube Music wants to make these playlists feel more personal and fun.

This change will make the playlists stand out more visually, as the generic titles are being swapped for something more specific. So instead of seeing ‘My Mix 1’, you’ll get something like Indie Pop Gems with the featured artists listed beneath it. However, not much else has changed about the look of these playlists for now.

The rest of the playlists in the Mixed for You section, like Discover Mix or New Release Mix, haven’t been touched by this update.

Right now, these renamed My Mix playlists are being tested on Android, iOS, and the web, but it’s not clear when or if they will be rolled out to more users. It’ll be interesting to see if this tweak catches on.

What do you think about this change? Would it make you enjoy the app more?
