‘Split Fiction’ Director Claims Ubisoft Is “Struggling” and Proposes a Co-Op ‘Splinter Cell’ as a Lifeline

During a recent PlayStation State of Play, Hazelight’s new game Split Fiction was revealed. The studio behind hits like It Takes Two has always focused on co-op gameplay, and director Josef Fares had strong words for other companies, especially Ubisoft.
In an interview, Fares expressed disbelief at how many big studios are avoiding co-op in their games. Fares pointed out how many people love co-op games and mentioned Ubisoft specifically.
He challenged the company to bring back Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series, suggesting a split-screen-only game. He argued that focusing on co-op could lead to big success for Ubisoft and would likely sell well.
Fares is no stranger to co-op. His past games, including Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, A Way Out, and It Takes Two, all focus on either split-screen or local co-op. He believes there’s a real demand for these experiences, something many fans miss from the past.
