The team behind Marvel Rivals made a huge u-turn after announcing a mid-season rank reset for players. The news hit just after they revealed that starting February 21, 2025, competitive ranks would drop four divisions for all players when the second half of the season began.

For example, if someone finished the first half at Diamond I, they would start the second half at Platinum II.

Naturally, the community was not happy. On the game’s massive subreddit, players voiced their frustration with the change. Some argued that this reset would discourage them from playing at all, saying, ‘Why bother with Ranked if my Rank is reset every month?’

It didn’t take long for NetEase to react. In just a few hours, the developers acknowledged the feedback and decided to roll back the reset.

They assured players that when the second half of the season starts, ranks will stay the same, and no one will lose progress. Players will still get rewards if they hit Gold rank, but they now just need to complete 10 more competitive matches instead of ranking back up.

This was a proper decision on the side of the devs. It shows that they actually care a lot about their player base and that players can actually impact the evolutionary cycle of a game. All games are made for the players, so such a decision makes absolute sense.

And while it is as times difficult to correct some games, Marvel Rivals is a proper example of a constantly evolving game that can utilize day-to-day player feedback to make improvements. If the devs continue to listen to the fans, the game definitely has a bright future, as many predicted.

Marvel Rivals will still offer the second set of rewards as planned, including a special Gold rank costume and several Crests of Honor with different designs for the highest ranks. The team deserves credit for quickly adjusting their plans after listening to player concerns, keeping the game’s competitive mode in a healthier spot.
