Nicolas Cage Slams AI in Hollywood and Says It Will Destroy Acting
Nicolas Cage didn’t hold back when talking about AI at the 52nd Saturn Awards on Sunday. After winning Best Actor in a Film for Dream Scenario, he used his moment on stage to warn against artificial intelligence creeping into the industry.
‘This is one of my favorite movies I’ve ever made,’ Cage said, praising Kristoffer Borgli for his direction, writing, and editing. But his speech quickly turned to something that’s been bothering him: AI.
‘There is another world disturbing me, and it’s happening all around us—the new AI world. I believe we can’t let robots dream for us. They can’t reflect the human condition. If actors let AI manipulate even a small part of their performance, that inch will turn into a mile. Then everything—integrity, truth, and art—will disappear, leaving only financial interests.’
He warned that AI will strip film of its humanity, making performances feel empty and robotic. ‘The job of art is to mirror human stories through real, emotional experiences. A robot can’t do that. If we let AI take over, everything will turn to mush. There won’t be a real human response to life, just whatever robots tell us life should be.’
