Huawei’s Unexpected Comeback Fuels DeepSeek AI

Not long ago, Huawei seemed like it was on track to dominate the smartphone world. But then, trade restrictions and tensions between the US and China threw a wrench in its plans. The company’s mobile division took a big hit, and its presence in the market faded.

Now, Huawei might be making a surprising comeback—not in smartphones, but in AI. A recent post by Alexander Doria on X suggests that Huawei chipsets are powering DeepSeek AI, a fast-rising startup from China.

DeepSeek has been getting a lot of attention lately for its impressive AI models, which some say can outperform ChatGPT.

What’s even more surprising is the cost. Training AI models usually requires billions of dollars and cutting-edge hardware. But DeepSeek reportedly pulled it off with just a few million and older equipment. The company uses NVIDIA’s H800 for training, but for running the AI models, it relies on Huawei’s 910C chipset.

If this information is accurate, Huawei could be stepping into a new role as a key player in AI. With the entire tech world shifting toward artificial intelligence, this could be the break Huawei needs to stay relevant.
