Honda’s Acura RSX to Debut Asimo Operating System
Honda is set to release its first all-electric vehicle built on its own platform in 2026. This new model will be called the Acura RSX, a name Honda first used in the early 2000s for a performance version of the Honda Integra. The RSX will be based on a concept unveiled last year and will be the first car built on Honda’s new EV platform.
This vehicle marks a major shift for Honda, as it moves away from relying on General Motors’ Ultium platform, which the company has used for the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX.
The RSX will also be the first car produced at Honda’s new factory in Ohio, expected to start production in late 2025. This $4.4 billion plant is a joint project with LG Chem, a major battery manufacturer.
In addition to the RSX’s performance features, it will debut the Asimo operating system, a software developed by Honda to handle the vehicle’s core functions. The system is named after Honda’s Asimo robot, which was retired in 2018. Honda plans to expand the use of Asimo in future vehicles, including its Honda Zero SUV.
The RSX will have a sporty design with a coupe-like silhouette, aiming to bring a fun driving experience. Jessica Fini, Honda’s assistant VP for communications, emphasized that Acura will lead the charge in Honda’s electrification and digital future.
