BYD has introduced its latest model, the Atto 2 SUV, to the European market, showcasing a host of pioneering technologies.

This new SUV follows the successful launch of the Atto 3 in Germany last year and its subsequent introduction to the UK in early 2023.

The full launch of the Europe-spec Atto 2 is eagerly anticipated to begin in February 2025.

The Atto 2 is built on BYD’s advanced 3-Platform 3.0 architecture, incorporating its revolutionary Blade Battery for the first time in a compact model from the brand.

This design technique, known as Cell-to-Body (CTB), integrates the battery directly into the vehicle’s chassis.

The battery’s top cover doubles as the floor of the passenger compartment, enhancing both the vehicle’s packaging efficiency and body rigidity.

One of the standout features of the Atto 2 is its Blade Battery, which boasts improvements in safety, durability, and performance.

This battery technology uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) for the cathode material, eliminating the need for cobalt and nickel.

LFP batteries are known for their resistance to extreme weather conditions, temperature stability, and energy efficiency, making them a durable choice with minimal capacity reduction over time.

At its launch, BYD will offer the Atto 2 with two battery options. The standard range model comes with a 45.1-kWh battery providing a driving range of approximately 193 miles (312 kilometers) and is powered by a front-mounted motor that delivers 174 hp (130 kW).

Further details about a larger battery version and additional specifications for the Europe-bound Atto 2 will be released as the launch date approaches, giving potential customers plenty to look forward to in the new year.
