YouTube Music Might Follow in Spotify’s Footsteps with New Feature
YouTube Music has been quietly building up its reputation as a strong rival to Spotify. Now, it seems they might be preparing to roll out a new feature to make sharing music even better. Hidden clues suggest that YouTube Music could soon introduce a lyrics-sharing option, as per the new report by Android Authority.
This piece of news is according to an APK teardown of the YouTube Music app by the folks over at Android Authority, who analyzed the current code and they have seemingly found something very, very interesting which might intrigue you.
The guys from the project have found these hints while looking at the latest version of YouTube Music’s APK (version 7.33.51). One particular piece of code stood out, referencing a file path named:
'lyrics_share_image.png' in a 'lyrics_share' directory.
While the code doesn’t spell out exactly how this feature will work, it’s easy to guess based on similar features from competitors.
Spotify’s lyrics-sharing tool lets users highlight specific lyrics, turn them into attractive images, and share them on social media, linking back to the song. If YouTube Music adopts something similar, users could get a fun, creative way to share their favorite tracks.
This kind of feature could also serve as a clever marketing move. Eye-catching lyric images are likely to grab more attention than simple links, potentially drawing more users to the platform.
Right now, there’s no confirmation on when—or if—this feature will go live. But with these early signs in the code, it’s definitely something to watch out for in upcoming updates.
Sources like Android Authority, which specializes in app teardowns and tech leaks, often use these code hints to predict future features. Even though not all of them make it to the final version, this one looks promising for those who love sharing music creatively.
