Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, is pushing ahead with new developments despite legal battles with OpenAI. This Friday evening, xAI launched an upgraded Grok 2 chatbot model, now available to all users on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

Musk’s company claims this new version of Grok is three times faster and has better accuracy, follows instructions more closely, and supports multiple languages.

For those using the free service, xAI allows up to 10 Grok interactions every two hours. However, users subscribed to X’s Premium and Premium+ plans will enjoy higher limits.

The rollout also introduced a ‘Grok button‘ on X. xAI explains this feature aims to assist users in finding pertinent information, understanding ongoing events, and exploring trending topics more deeply.

On the enterprise side, xAI announced updates to its API. The company has introduced two new Grok models which not only perform better but are also more efficient in handling multiple languages.

Thanks to these improvements, xAI has reduced its pricing. The cost for processing a million input tokens (around 750,000 words) has dropped from $5 to $2, and from $15 to $10 for a million output tokens.

Looking ahead, xAI plans to integrate its image generation model, Aurora, into the API. Aurora, which debuted this month in the Grok chatbot experience on X, offers unfiltered image AI capabilities.
